LIEGENAAR is an experimental free improvisation duo from Antwerp, Belgium. Their practice takes on different forms reaching from noise performances and sound installations to food art.
With an ever-changing set-up they construct an atmosphere that is both welcoming and hostile at the same time. They are interested in using a variety of lo-fi techniques and sound sources like tape recordings and amplified junk materials while retaining a naive approach to making sound. This results in a mixture of murky vocalizations layered upon dissonant rhythms glued together with handmade and manipulated instruments carefully beaten to pulp.

LEANDRO BARZABAL has worked since 2001 as a self-taught artist in the field of experimental music, improvisation and performance arts. He has collaborated in several works of physical theater and contemporary dance as a musician or performer. He uses space and objects
surroundings to compose with reality.

The focus of his work is sound and improvisation, but his visual and physical approach to creation moves him to a liminal region between different artistic expressions. His concerts can be physical experiences or mixed with installations or fixed supports.

His instrumentarium contains found objects, electric guitars, DIY electronics, field recordings and electronic measuring tools.

He coined the term Acouspauvrium. Which results in a “fragile audio system”. In this work, he creates sound diffusion systems with poor materials. These speakers undergo transformations or even face destruction during their use. A non-passive and non-fidelity sound system.
